FARGO — The iconic downtown Fargo Theatre won't be reopening this month, and it appears as if Marcus Theatres, with its 27 screens at three theater locations in Fargo and Moorhead, won't either.
Emily Beck, executive director of the Fargo Theatre, said they don't have a reopening date set in stone.
"We are hoping for sometime in June, but are watching the situation and recommendations from public health officials closely. The health and safety of our patrons and staff will always be our top priority," she said.
Beck said they also have to factor in the availability of studio film content.
In the meantime, she said they are fundraising, offering curbside popcorn sales and working on facility projects.

The fundraising is to make up for lost income from the cancellation of the Fargo Film Festival, the largest annual moneymaker, and from the closure of daily operations.
"April and May are usually are busiest months of the year for events/concerts, all of which were canceled or postponed, so it definitely makes a difference," Beck said.
The next popcorn sale will be Friday, May 15, and she said the curbside sale every other Friday afternoon has been popular.
As for inside projects, she said, "we are doing everything we can to ensure that when the time does come to reopen, we have every protocol in place to ensure safety for our guests."
The Marcus cinemas, meanwhile, are working on plans and timing for opening, said spokesperson Mari Randa.
The company operates the West Acres Cinema at 4101 17th Ave. SW, Century Cinema at 3931 Ninth Ave. SW and the Safari Value Cinema at 925 30th Ave. S. in Moorhead.
