MOORHEAD - Dale Blanchan will present "The Dakota War of 1862: Minnesota's Other Civil War" at 2 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Hjemkomst Center.
The program will follow The Dakota War from its beginning at the Lower Sioux Agency near Redwood Falls to the execution of 38 Dakota at Mankato in December 1862 and the exile of nearly the entire Minnesota Dakota population.
It brings to light issues that caused a once peaceful relationship between Native people and European settlers to turn to war.
The program is free and open to the public.
