FARGO — This year's late Thanksgiving means the period between turkey day and Christmas is a short one.

While there may be fewer days between the two holidays, there is just as much — if not more — things happening this season.

Here's a look at some of the holiday highlights over the next month.

Arts & Crafts

Holiday Art Market, 1-6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and 5-9 p.m. Thursdays, through Dec. 22, Aptitude at West Acres, 3902 13th Ave. S., Fargo, shop from dozens of local artists and find one-of-a-kind gifts.

Holiday Lights in Lindenwood Park, 5:30-10 p.m. through Dec. 31, Lindenwood Park, 1905 Roger Maris Drive, Fargo, over 65 holiday lights displays throughout Roger Maris Drive in Lindenwood Park, a benefit for Fargo-Moorhead Sertoma Club; $7 per car/van, or $6 with canned good, $11 per bus/limo.

Libraries Dance! "Nutcracker" Sneak Peek Storytime and Ballet Class, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3, Fargo Public Library, 102 Third St. N., listen to a story and then spend time moving and stretching while getting basic techniques and lessons on different types of dance, open to children ages 3 to 12 years, no pre-registration is required.

Holiday Sweater Making, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3, Fargo Public Library, 102 Third St. N., we deck our holiday apparel, bring a sweater, T-shirt, apron or other clothing item and decorate it to show off your unique personality, paint, glue, and other jingle-jangles as well as some snacks provided, recommended for adults and teens, pre-registration is requested but not required.

"Nutcracker" Storytime with FMBallet, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 5, Moorhead Public Library, 118 Fifth St. S., a special "Nutcracker" storytime with the FMBallet includes fun stories and songs, plus a dance lesson at the end.

Snowman STEM, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 5, West Fargo Public Library, 215 Third St. E., kids will learn all about different areas of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) through fun snowman-themed experiments and activities; program is free and open to kids in grades K-5.

Holiday Nights at the Zoo, 6-8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 28, Red River Zoo, 4255 23rd Ave. S., Fargo, enjoy a family stroll under charming Christmas lights and decorations, special animal presentations, educational activities, holiday campfire, music and more; $4 to $6.

Light Up the Night, 5 p.m. Dec. 5, POW/MIA Plaza, Sheyenne Street and Fifth Avenue, West Fargo, kick off the holidays with a tree lighting ceremony, with music by the West Fargo High School Carolers, West Fargo Police Department serving hot cocoa and an appearance by Santa.

Victorian Christmas Tours, 5:30, 7 and 8:30 p.m. Dec. 5 and 19, Comstock House, 506 Eighth St. S., Moorhead, historic house will be lit and decorated, offering insights into Victorian holiday traditions; $5 to $10.

400 Block Petting Zoo, 4-8 p.m. Dec. 6, 400 block of Broadway North, Rusty K Ranch brings goats, sheep, alpacas, a mini donkey, mini horse, calf and other farm friends to visit.

The Christmas Market, 4 p.m. Dec. 6 and 9 a.m. Dec. 7, Hartl Ag Building, Red River Valley Fairgrounds, 1801 Main Ave. W., West Fargo, shop local vendors and makers in a winter wonderland.
