FARGO — While many Americans are counting down to the fun of July 4th, some Broadway musical fans are looking even more forward to July 3rd. That’s the date that Tony Award-winning, mega smash “Hamilton” will begin streaming on Disney+.
It is rumored that Disney paid $75 million for the worldwide rights to the live recording, filmed over three nights with the show’s original cast. Disney originally planned to release the filmed version of “Hamilton” in theaters in the fall of 2021, but with Broadway shutting down because of the coronavirus pandemic, it was moved up to this summer for home-viewing.
Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda said in a statement: "I'm so grateful to Disney and Disney+ for re-imagining and moving up our release to July 4th weekend of this year, in light of the world turning upside down. I'm so grateful to all the fans who asked for this, and I'm so glad that we're able to make it happen. I'm so proud of this show. I can't wait for you to see it."

For all of you people looking forward to watching it, why not make a night of it and throw a “Hamilton party?”
We’ve compiled a few recipes we first brought to you in 2016 when “Hamilton” first hit, but we’ve added a few more that will help you celebrate in style with the founding fathers.
Each recipe is a nod to Hamilton’s life or the characters or songs in the show. See all the recipes at the bottom.
The first recipe honors Hamilton’s childhood in the British West Indies where the young boy, son of a single mom, survived on salted fish and pork. (Don’t worry, this recipe is more cruise ship fabulous than Caribbean scraps.)

By the time he came to America and started hobnobbing with the young nation’s elite, Hamilton is said to have loved fine beef. In the book “Dinner at Mr. Jefferson’s,” author Charles Cerami says while dining with Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, Hamilton “praised extravagantly” the boeuf a la mode, or French beef stew. But beef stew seems a bit heavy for mid-summer, so why not make some Aaron Burr-gers. Get it? No need for a special recipe here, just make your favorite burger. I’ll throw in a recipe below of one of my favorites, the John Wheeler (yes, that John Wheeler of WDAY) burger. I’m sure if A-Ham were alive today, he’d put on his Bermuda shorts, crack open a Bud Light and throw them on the grill himself. After all, he was “young, scrappy and hungry,” right?

And speaking of A. Ham, if you want to go all out for the theme, throw together some “A. Ham" Dill Pickle Wraps. This is one of my favorite go-to appetizers, although I do prefer it with corned beef instead of ham. But last I checked, corned beef did not have its own musical on Broadway. Wait, does “Spamalot” count?
We need a cocktail to toast Hamilton and the country he helped build. I found a site called GoodFoodStories that had a bunch of them. “My Shot: An Alexander Hamilton Cocktail” celebrates Hamilton’s life by combining Caribbean rum with Virginia whiskey (and a few other ingredients). If you want to really go nuts with “Hamilton” cocktails, the site also features “Work! A Schuyler Sister’s Cocktail” and “Aaron Burr, Sir: A Milk Punch Cocktail.”
By the way, if you’re wondering where I got the Alexander Hamilton shot glass pictured, it’s from a site called Fish’s Eddy. History buffs won’t be surprised that they also sell an Aaron Burr shot glass.
You need to finish your meal with something sweet. You have a choice. The first recipe is inspired by that old TV commercial that popularized the Aaron Burr/Alexander Hamilton duel long before the musical did. It features a man with a mouth full of peanut butter unable to answer a trivia question from a radio contest. Just watch.

Because of that, it seems fitting to make peanut butter milkshakes. There’s some milk in them, so it won’t stick to the roof of your mouth in case a radio station trivia contest calls.

“Aaron Burr-gers”
Serves: 4
Make your favorite burger if you don’t have one, try one of my favorites, John Wheeler Burgers. We all know John Wheeler as that man who delivers the forecast of the good, the bad and the downright frigid. But WDAY-TV’s chief meteorologist also makes some of the world’s greatest hamburgers.
Ingredients:
1 pound 80 percent lean ground beef (leaner beef doesn’t work as well)
1 teaspoon black pepper
⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper
¼-½ teaspoon onion powder
8 crushed Ritz crackers
1 egg
4-5 shakes of Worcestershire sauce (a few tablespoons)
1 generous shake of A-1 Steak Sauce
A dash of Tiger Sauce
4 tablespoons melted butter or margarine
½ cup or so of burgundy wine (any inexpensive red wine works well)
Directions:
Mix all ingredients (except butter and wine) well. Shape into four patties (Recipe is easily doubled or tripled). Mix melted butter and wine together in a small bowl. Place burgers on a hot grill, and baste with butter/wine mixture. Close lid. When it’s time to turn the burgers, baste the other side. Cook until done.

“Work!” Schuyler Sisters Cake
(Make three cakes to represent all three sisters. Each cake serves: 16
Ingredients:
Vegetable shortening and flour for greasing bowl
3 pkgs (15.25-16.5 oz or 510 g) yellow or devil’s food or cake mix (plus ingredients to make cake)
3 tubs prepared white frosting
Food coloring (The sisters' dresses are blue, pink and light yellow)
Barbie-like doll (I used three dolls I found at a dollar store)
3- 2 quart Pyrex or Pampered Chef Glass Mixing Bowls
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 2-quart ovenproof Pyrex glass mixing bowls (or Pampered Chef Classic Batter Bowls) with shortening and dust with flour. Prepare cakes as directed on box. Pour batter into prepared bowls. Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until cake tester inserted into center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes.Invert on cake plate with widest part of cakes on the bottom. Cool 3 hours before decorating. Frost the cakes with pink, blue or yellow icing. Prepare the dolls. I found the dolls were too tall to make the cake look like a skirt, so I took the legs off the dolls. Then inserted the legless dolls into center of each cake. Add other details to make the dresses as fancy as you like.
