Jonny Lang has canceled all of his confirmed appearances due to voice issues, the singer/guitarist's manager announced in a press release Tuesday morning.
“Per doctor’s orders, Jonny Lang will be cancelling all confirmed appearances,” the release stated. “Over the course of the past year, medical challenges with his voice have not improved. There is hope for a natural recovery at some point in the future but until progress is witnessed no future plans will be initiated.”
Lang, a Fargo native, turns 40 on Jan. 29.
He started playing guitar at age 12 and shortly after joined the Fargo-based blues group, The Big Bang, becoming Kid Jonny Lang & The Big Bang. He was signed to a major record label and released his first hit, "Lie to Me," in 1997.
He stayed busy for the next two decades touring and recording. He most recently played Fargo in 2018.
