FARGO — The Fargo Blues Festival, billed as "the premier outdoor summer blues music festival in the upper United States," has announced its 2023 lineup, which will feature 11 artists and bring together some of the biggest names in blues.

The annual, two-day event will take place July 28 and 29 at the Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo.

“Every year we have a lot of incredible talent hit the stage and 2023 is no exception,” said Brad Thom, Fargo Blues Festival promoter via statement. “We have several award-winning artists joining us and we’re excited to carry on this Fargo tradition and bring their performances to the stage this summer.”

Grammy-nominated artist Sugaray Rayford will headline Friday’s show with his seven-piece band creating their iconic soul melodies with funky R&B grooves. On Saturday, Blood Brothers, featuring Mike Zito and Albert Castiglia , will headline the festival. Zito and Castiglia are true blood brothers who’ve combined their talents as individual artists into a collaborative effort of great songwriting and performances. Both artists have won several awards for their work.

Castiglia took home the BMA Blues Rock Artist of the Year in 2022 and also earned Blues Rock Album of the Year in 2019. Zito won the 2022 Blue Music Award for Blues Rock Album.

Advanced VIP passes, which sold out last year, are also available for $140 and go to $160 the week of the show. VIP tickets include side stage and VIP tent access, meet-and-greets with the bands, private potable toilet access as well as three meals and beverages and four beers.

All attendees will also have access to a wide variety of food vendors and camping accommodations in the nearby Fargodome parking lot.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
