Modern Jazz Quartet documentary screening is Sept. 12

MOORHEAD — A screening of the documentary film "The Modern Jazz Quartet: From Residency to Legacy" is at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Christiansen Recital Hall in the Hvidsten Hall of Music at Concordia College, 901 Eighth St. S.

Focusing on the Modern Jazz Quartet and their role at Music Inn and the iconic School of Jazz during the mid-to late-1950s, this documentary includes interviews with the likes of Percy Heath, Dave Brubeck, Stephanie Barber and more. Following the film, a post-screen Q and A session with producer George Schuller.

The screening is free and open to the public.
