New synod associate staff named

FARGO – Bishop Terry Brandt and the Eastern North Dakota Synod Council of the ELCA announce new synod associate staff, effective Aug. 4.
The Rev. Charles Axness will serve as associate with the Bishop for Rostered Leadership; Jakelle Cornell Smith will serve as associate with the Bishop for Administration; and Shar Gumke will serve as associate with the Bishop for Congregational Life and Mission.
Gumke has served as vice president for the Eastern North Dakota Synod Council of the ELCA for the past five years. An appointed individual will complete the remaining year of her term, and a new vice president will be elected during the 2015 assembly April 18-19.
The new staff will be present at the Rev. Terry Brandt’s installation service Aug. 23.
