FARGO - Olympic competitor Amanda Smock and other well-known area athletes who competed in Olympic trials will attend Sunday's Streets Alive event.
During the event, three miles of streets through Fargo and Moorhead will be closed to motorized traffic to encourage people to walk, run, bike, rollerblade and use other forms of human movement.
In addition to Olympic triple-jump competitor Smock, the following athletes will be on hand: Fargo South graduate Laura Roesler, currently an Oregon Duck, and North Dakota State University alum Laura Januszewski, who both competed in the 800- meter Olympic track trials; pole vaulter Leslie Brost, currently attending NDSU; marathoner Eric Loeffler and javelin thrower Riley Dolezal, both NDSU alums.
Athletes will showcase their talents from 2 to 3 p.m. on Broadway in Fargo.
Oak Grove Park will serve as Activity Alley with free group events like Zumba, yoga and hula hooping. A map and full details are available online at www.fmstreetsalive.org .
