FARGO-I like to drink shakes in the morning, typically made with almond milk, but when I saw cashew milk at the grocery store, I decided to give it a try.
Silk's original cashew milk did seem creamier than skim milk, as the company claims. It also seemed creamer than almond milk. I thought it tasted pretty good-a little more neutral than almond milk or soy milk.
The unsweetened cashew milk still seemed creamy, but (of course) did not taste as good as the sweetened variety.
According to Silk's website, cashews have a lower fat content than most other nuts and offer monounsaturated-fatty acids, considered heart-friendly fats.
The original cashew milk has 60 calories per cup, 2.5 grams of fat, 9 grams of carbohydrates, 7 grams of sugar and less than a gram of protein. It's made with filtered water, cashews, cane sugar, sea salt, almond butter, locust bean gum, sunflower lecithin, gellan gum and natural flavor.

Unsweetened cashew milk has 25 calories, 2 grams of fat, 1 gram of carbohydrates, no sugar and less than a gram of protein.
It's made with the same ingredients as the original, except it has ascorbic acid and does not contain cane sugar.
Both varieties have 45 percent of the recommended daily value for calcium and 25 percent for vitamin D (based on a 2,000 calorie diet).
It sells at local grocery stores for about $3 to $4 a carton.
