FARGO – I love smooth, shiny hair, probably because mine is not. So when I spotted a Dove hairspray promising all day hold and enhanced luminosity, I decided to give it a try.
Dove hair therapy STYLE + Care Strength & Shine extra-hold hairspray works great for updos. When I put my hair in a quick bun for work, the spray keeps the wisps at bay and gives my hair a polished look.
But when I use it to hold my style when I curl my hair, it falls flat, literally.
Instead of looking luminous, my long, curly hair looks greasy. And the curls that typically last most of the day only last a few hours before descending into waves and then limp, listless locks.
The spray promises its “fast drying formula fights frizz and fly-aways while adding body and volume.” It also says it provides extra hold without stiffness.
It did not make my hair stiff, and it did fight frizz and fly-aways, but it did not add body or volume to my hair.
A 9.25 ounce bottle of the spray sells for about $5 at retail stores.
