TMI Hospitality, with headquarters in Fargo, has opened North Dakota's first Residence Inn by Marriott in Bismarck.
With 92 rooms suited for extended-stay guests, the hotel caters to business and leisure travelers looking for added comfort.
TMI is also building a Residence Inn at 4335 23rd Ave. S., in Fargo. It is expected to open in summer 2013.
Lauris Molbert, CEO of TMI Hospitality, said Bismarck's robust economy is bringing business and leisure travelers to the region who end up staying for days or weeks, creating demand for lodging offering more amenities.
"This is the first of several new hotels we will be opening in North Dakota as the state continues to support our company's growth and success, as well as create the need for more rooms for guests," Molbert said.

Revving up
Quaker Steak & Lube, known for its wings and more than 20 varieties of sauces, expects to open its first North Dakota location in Fargo in November.
The spot at 1776 45th St. S. has been home to a number of restaurants in the past, most recently Redford's Steak and Seafood.
Remodeling of the structure is under way.
Quaker Steak & Lube is a motorsports-themed casual dining family restaurant with more than 45 locations in the United States and Canada.
New bank building
BlackRidgeBANK has broken ground on its second location in the area.
The bank has 10 branches in Minnesota and North Dakota, including one at 4040 42nd St. S. in Fargo.

The new branch is going up at 855 26th Ave. E. in West Fargo. It is expected to open in March 2013.
BlackRidgeBANK was formed in 2004 by former executives of Community First Bankshares.
It has more than $300 million in assets.
Serving up music
John Alexander's Restaurant and Martini Bar, 315 Main Ave. in Moorhead, has added music to its menu.
Wednesday nights now feature a polka band - The Blue Boys - while Thursday night is jazz night, with various artists performing, depending on the week.
Owner Juan Mondragon said he hopes to keep the musical schedule through the fall and winter.
The music starts at 8 p.m. and lasts until 10.

Bank building purchased
State Bank & Trust has entered into an agreement to buy a building at 214 5th St. N. in Breckenridge, Minn., now occupied by RiverWood Bank.
RiverWood plans to close its branch at that location, and State Bank & Trust expects to open a branch in that spot in November after the purchase has been completed and upon regulatory approval.
"We have always had a goal of expanding into the Breckenridge community, and we are very excited to have this opportunity," said Rick Steckler, president of the State Bank & Trust location at 209 Dakota Ave. in Wahpeton, N.D.
State Bank & Trust is building a new bank at 717 2nd Ave. N., in Wahpeton, and once that is completed, the current Wahpeton branch will move into that location.
