‘Star Wars Holiday Special’
Thursday
A long time ago (Nov. 17, 1978) on a TV network not too far away (CBS), the “Star Wars Holiday Special” debuted. It depicted Chewbacca going home to celebrate “Life Day” with his family and friends, like Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. If it sounds super cheesy, it was. The piece was such a turkey, George Lucas had it shelved forever. In the spirit of the rebel alliance, fans have been screening bootleg copies for years. The local folks behind Grindflicks roll out this interstellar stinker for a special screening Thursday at the Fargo Theatre, 314 Broadway. The event also features odd holiday shorts and trailers, a pre-screening “Star Wars” trivia contest hosted by Paradox Comics-n-Cards and an appearance by the local storm troopers of the 501st Legion. The show starts at 7 p.m. for $5, or free with donation of a new, pre-packaged toy. (701) 239-8385.
