DETROIT LAKES, Minn. - The annual fall festival at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge near Detroit Lakes is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 2. All events are free.
This year's theme is "Celebrate Tamarac's Bounty." Participants will learn about Minnesota wild rice, hike the nature trail and take the winter preparation challenge to discover how Minnesota wildlife prepares for the winter months.
There will also be prizes, a silent auction, a display of photo contest entries, native crafts and a guided bus tour of the refuge. The bookstore will also be open during the festival.
Proceeds from auction, lunch and bookstore raise funds for school bus trips to Tamarac and other refuge projects.
