The Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre's Broadway Lights troupe presents a twist on a Broadway hit with, "Rent: School Edition," this summer.
The original "Rent" focused on the bohemian lives of struggling artists in New York and addressed AIDS, drug use and sexual identity. A release from the FMCT noted that content in the original made it difficult for high schools to perform. "Rent: School Edition" was adapted to maintain "the dramatic intention and integrity of the piece" making it "more appropriate for high school audiences and performers."
Broadway Lights specifically works with young musical theatre students, ages 14 - 19. Rebecca Meyer Larson from Moorhead High School directs the production.
