Steve Stark, a Fargo South High School director, has been named the 2011 Director of the Year for the Communication, Speech and Theatre Association of North Dakota.
Stark was honored at the State Class A play festival last week at West Fargo High School.
He directed the play "Interview" by Jean Claude van Itallie.
The event drew 12 schools, said event co-manager Adam Pankow.

Stand Up for Education
A "Stand Up for Education" rally is planned by the Fargo Education Association starting 7 p.m. May 16 in the South High School gymnasium.
Keynote speaker will be Lily Eskelsen, the vice president of the National Education Association.
Also invited are U.S. Sens. John Hoeven and Kent Conrad, Gov. Jack Dalrymple, Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker and local legislators.
Music will be provided by the South High band and choir.
North Dakota Education Association President Dakota Draper, Fargo Superintendent Rick Buresh and FEA President Kim Belgarde are also expected to address the gathering.

Anna Skarphol, a student at Park Christian School, has been named one of the State Grade Level winners in the 20th Annual Zaner-Bloser Handwriting Contest, the school announced.
In addition to a medallion and prizes for her teacher and school, Skarphol will be eligible to compete for the title of national champion and grand national champion.
Flood delays testing
The Moorhead School District has delayed until April 19-21 the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments due to the area's flooding.
The affected tests include reading for grades three through eight and 10, writing for grade nine, and math for grade 11.
The move was made in consultation with the Minnesota Department of Education.
