Alf Clausen's work providing a musical score for "The Simpsons" animated TV show has earned the NDSU alum another Emmy Award nomination.
The Jamestown, N.D., native and North Dakota State University graduate earned the nomination Thursday in the category for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series ( Original Dramatic Score).
"It always feels great," Clausen said this morning in a phone interview from his California home. "And I, fortunately, can say it always feels great. I've been very, very lucky and have had quite a long string of nominations. This is my 29th."
Clausen has two previous Emmy Awards, both for music from "The Simpsons" in 1997 and 1998.
"Being connected to and identified with a show that's as successful as 'The Simpsons' never hurts" when it comes to garnering nominations, Clausen said. "The nice thing about 'The Simpsons' ... is that it's an acoustic music show and that I have a 35-piece orchestra every week. And I think that my peers tend to want to recognize that."

And it may not be the last. He describes the emotions that go along with this nomination as "joy, of course, and honor and inspiration to go for another."
The awards will be announced Sept. 20 during a televised show on CBS.
