North Dakota Special Olympics games start in Fargo

FARGO - Davies High School will be the site of Special Olympics North Dakota's state Summer Games being held today and Saturday.

More than 550 participants are expected, representing Belcourt, Bismarck, Dickinson, Fargo, Grafton, Grand Forks, Jamestown, Mandan, Minot, Valley City and Wahpeton, Special Olympics announced.

Today's events include: bocce (10 a.m., south of football stadium); unified volleyball (10:30 a.m., gyms); power lifting (noon, theater); aquatics (1:30 p.m., pool); and 40th anniversary celebration with fireworks (9:15 p.m., football stadium).

Saturday's events include:

  • Opening ceremony and parade of athletes (9:30 a.m., football stadium).
  • Track and field competitions (10:30 a.m., track).
  • Closing ceremony (3 p.m., track).

Davies High School is at 7150 25th St. S.
This marks the 15th consecutive year that the Summer Games have been hosted by the city of Fargo.
