MOORHEAD - The Summer Cinema Series kicks off on Monday at Minnesota State University Moorhead and will run Mondays at 7:30 p.m. through July 30.
The series feature some of Hollywood's greatest stars in popular motion pictures as well as a few rare, seldom-seen movies. Each film is preceded by a short subject film or cartoon.
Area film professors will provide a brief introduction to each film and mem-bers of the Red River Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society provide pre-show pipe organ music and will accompany the silent films.
The series schedule includes:
• Monday, "Sparrows," a silent drama featuring Mary Pickford, Roy Stew-art and Mary Louise Miller;

• July 16, "The Great K&A Train Robbery," a western starring Tom Mix, Dorothy Dwan and Tony the Horse, plus "The Great Train Robbery," a 12-minute film considered to be the first western;
• July 23, Buster Keaton shorts, including "The Balloonatic," "The Electric House," "The Boat" and "The Playhouse;" and
• July 30, "Wings," an action drama starring Clara Bow, Charles "Bud-dy" Rogers and Richard Arlen.
Tickets are $4 per film and will be sold at the door. All films in the series are appropriate for all ages and ice cream sundaes will be served following the final movie on July 30.
