DETROIT LAKES, Minn. - The Historic Holmes Theatre here has received a $6,300 BNSF Railway Foundation grant to help fund the theater's outreach programs.
Programs include "Tell Me a Story," where area middle school students meet with senior citizens to learn what life used to be like before cellphones, iPods and video games. The students then write radio vignettes based on these conversations that air live on KDLM 1340.
Other programs include "Mosaic Mania," now in its fifth year, an area-wide art project that promotes creativity among youth.
