The Bone is rocking.
A new active rock radio station has landed on 92.7 KFNL FM. Nicknamed "The Bone," the station started in late March and has been playing hard rock songs by bands like Metallica, Disturbed and Godsmack.
Station owner, Robert J. Ingstad, says he'll play more than 10,000 songs uninterrupted until early May, at which time the The Bone will run no more than eight commercial minutes every hour.
He says the hard rock lineup will appeal to the 18 - 34-year-old demographic and challenge Q-98 for listeners. Q-98 is owned by Go Radio.
"It's an exciting place to be because the active rock format is doing real well," Ingstad said.

Ingstad comes from a radio family. His father, the late Robert E. Ingstad, owned stations and his mother, Jan Ingstad, still owns stations in Valley City, Jamestown area as well as South Dakota and Kansas. His uncle James Ingstad, owns Radio Fargo-Moorhead, which will sell ads for The Bone.
Robert J. Ingstad, who lives in Valley City, and a cousin own five stations each in Fairbanks, Alaska, and Klamath Falls, Ore.
In March, Robert J. Ingstad's Mediactive, LLC bought 92.7 from North-western College. The station, called Legacy, played contemporary Christian music. Northwestern College still runs the contemporary Christian music station Life 97.9 KFNW FM in Fargo.
The studio for 92.7 The Bone is located in the Wells Fargo Building on the corner of 25th St. and 13th Ave., S. Fargo.
