Don't let the photogenic looks and Hollywood resume distract you. Cellist Zuill Bailey has some top-line musical skills, too.

Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra Conductor Bernard Rubenstein says Bailey is one of the "top cellists" in the world today.

Bailey is in Fargo-Moorhead for a series of performances, including the FMSO Masterworks concerts and a Monday performance at Minnesota State University Moorhead. He'll also share his skills at area public schools.

His dark-featured good looks probably haven't hurt him in landing TV appearances, such as his recurring role on the HBO series "Oz." But Bailey's far from just a pretty face. Bailey holds a master's degree from Juilliard.

"He's a remarkable musician," FMSO Executive Director Linda Coates says.

Bailey will perform all six of Bach's cello suites at his MSUM concert Monday. His recording of those pieces was No. 1 on the Classical Billboard/Soundscan Charts for several weeks.

And Bailey has a cello equal to that task. The instrument on which he performs dates back to 1693, a time when Johann Sebastian Bach was still a child.
