FARGO - The Northland Community and Technical College Foundation will display its full-scale model of a Global Hawk unmanned aircraft Aug. 13-14 at the Fargo AirSho, the foundation announced in a news release Wednesday.
The model measures 44 feet from nose to tail and 116 feet from wingtip to wingtip. Built in 2000, it was donated to the foundation earlier this year by Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems.
The foundation will use the model to support and promote aviation programs of the college and the overall aerospace industry in the Red River Valley, the release stated.
The college has been training aviation maintenance technicians for more than 50 years. Starting Aug. 22, it will launch the nation's first unmanned aerial systems maintenance training program this year, developed through a $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
