Friday and Sunday

Roots music has been on the rise since the "O' Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack was released nearly a decade ago. Two touring acts give different twists on the ol' pick and twang. Singer/guitarist Dennis Warner has no trouble telling stories as the host of a couple National Public Radio shows, but the singer/guitarist mostly lets his fingers do the talking Friday at 7:30 p.m., as part of the Listening Room series at the Spirit Room, 111 Broadway, Fargo. Tickets are $10 for this all-ages performance. (701) 237-0230. Closing the weekend at The Aquarium, 226 Broadway, are the "newgrass" stringmen of Greensky Bluegrass, who mix originals with traditional rags. Make sure you stick around for the rolling takes on Pink Floyd's "Time," and the Beatles' "A Day in the Life." Tickets are $8 for this 9 p.m. Sunday, ID-only show. (701) 235-5913.
