Tonight
Whether it's the middle of June or the middle of winter, when the Legendary Shack Shakers come to town, it's time to strap on your stompin' boots. Since this Kentucky-bred psychobilly outfit plays The Aquarium, 226 Broadway in Fargo, tonight, I'd suggest you start shining those boots. With a high-octane mix of rockabilly and revivalism that's been described as "penta-caustic," the group chugs through tales from a twisted South where the belles are of a hellish variety. Frontman J.D. Wilkes is a cross between Iggy Pop and Golum, drawing cheers as much for his animated antics as his onstage, mid-song farmer blows. Former Jesus Lizard guitarist Duane Dennison now adds to the punch. Loud? Sometimes. Crude? Often. Entertaining? Always. There's a $10 cover for this ID-only show. Les Dirty Frenchmen open the show at 10:30. (701) 235-5913.
