Oktoberfest is more than just a beer-drinking celebration. Well, actually beer brewing is a big part of Bavarian culture, but there will be plenty of events for the family this Saturday. A half-marathon, as well as 10K and 5K walk/runs, start at 8 a.m. outside the Fargo Civic Center, 207 4th St. N. After that, all events are outside the Old Broadway, 22 Broadway, Fargo. Games Galore will have attractions set up when gates open at 10 a.m., and three-hour sets by Odell Braaten, Carmen the Cactus and Boomtown start at 12:30 p.m. German cuisine will be served and of course there will be a pub crawl and beer, including Bud Light's new taste, Golden Wheat. And for the kids, there will be a root beer fest from noon to 3 p.m., with the first 300 getting free root beer floats. (701) 237-4500.
