Bikers riding to conserve national parks

Two bicyclists are traveling the country, raising money and awareness for our national parks.

FARGO — Two bikers that are riding to every national park to raise money for conservation passed through Fargo Thursday, July 8.

Parks Pilgrimage is made up of riders Scott Parkinson and Alex Zelek. They're just getting started on their 18 month, 18,000 mile journey to each national park in the mainland U.S.

Their goal is to raise more than $50,000 to protect the parks. Parks Pilgrimage says they will make sure the funds go to the right cause.

"It actually goes into a restricted account where it can only be used for conservation efforts at the park," Parkinson explained. "So that's an even side benefit form this, it's not only for the national parks, but it goes directly into conservation of our national parks."
