DULUTH — St. Joseph's School in Moorhead will say goodbye to its principal, as he has accepted a position as president of Stella Maris Academy in Duluth. He is set to begin July 1.
Andrew Hilliker will oversee the Catholic school's three campuses in Duluth: St. James, Holy, Rosary and St. John's, according to a news release from the school.
The school began the search for a president in February, shortly after announcing that the pre-kindergarten through eighth grade school will be adding high school grades by the fall of 2022. Hilliker will also be responsible for facilitating the development of the high school, the release read.
Stella Maris Academy currently has two principals.
Hilliker is currently a principal in Moorhead at St. Joseph's School, which also serves pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. For the last three years, Hilliker has also served as the director of schools for the Diocese of Crookston.
In a letter to Stella Maris Academy, Hilliker wrote: "Our work is important, and it is essential. Not only do our students need the stability and direction of the faith, but our families need us to fully support their domestic church...I truly look forward to meeting the faculty, staff, students, families, and community members that are invested into Stella Maris Academy."
He and his wife, a school psychologist, have three children between the ages of one and four.
