FARGO — Kids and young teenagers can learn about trout and fly fishing and try their hand at the sport at a free event next week.

On-site check-in for Trout Fest will start at 5:30 p.m. and a catch-and-release fishing derby will start at 6:15 p.m. Monday, June 10, at Fargo’s Woodhaven North Pond, 4406 44th Ave. S.

During the free event, which is open to anyone 15 and younger who likes fishing, participants can learn about trout and fly fishing, compete in the fishing derby and receive awards. Nightcrawlers will be provided as bait while supplies last, but attendees are asked to bring their own rod and reel.

The Fargo Park District event is sponsored in part by FM Walleyes Unlimited and Scheels.
