FARGO — A robotics team of Fargo high schoolers recently won its regional and is gearing up for a championship in Detroit — but they'll need some help from the community to do it.

The Red River Rage, which includes students from Fargo North, Fargo South and Davies High Schools, competed in Grand Forks in a regional last week. They'll next advance to the 2019 FIRST Championship in Detroit, which will be held April 24-27. The team is part of Fargo's STEM Alliance.

But competing at the next level will take some money, so STEM Alliance is planning a fundraising event later this month to help cover the costs of transportation, lodging, food and registration. That event is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at STEM Alliance, 1301 39th St. N., Fargo.

Donations also can be made by checks payable to: STEM Alliance C/O The Fargo EDC, 51 Broadway N. Suite 500, Fargo, ND 58102-4979.
