FARGO — While the Scandinavian Hjemkomst & Midwest Viking Festival held every June at Moorhead’s Hjemkomst Center has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, the Nordic Culture Clubs are going ahead with two smaller celebrations in Fargo.
Taste of Scandinavia will be held from 2-8 p.m. June 24 at Fargo’s Sons of Norway. Different clubs will have their own tables to sell traditional Nordic fare like Icelandic salmon sandwiches, Swedish rolls and Danish kringle. A Finnish dinner will be held from 4:30-8 p.m. for $8, with tickets purchased in advance suggested. In-person and online auctions will also be held.
Funds raised will help produce the Scandinavian Hjemkomst Festival on Oct. 9 at El Zagal Shrine in north Fargo. Scandinavian foods, vendors, children’s activities and entertainment will be offered at the fall event .
