FARGO — Bison Strides, North Dakota State University's equine-assisted activities and therapies organization, is looking for volunteers for the summer.
Working with those who have physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioral or mental health challenges, volunteers are needed to walk and occasionally jog alongside riders in a dirt-floor arena to help keep the riders safe on their horses.
A two-hour training course for interested volunteers begins at 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, at the NDSU Equine Center, 5140 19th Ave. N. Volunteers are asked to commit to one hour per week for the six-week session that runs May 20 through June 27. No experience with horses is necessary.
