FARGO — The Fargo-Moorhead Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Group is hosting the seventh annual Pancreatic Cancer Vigil and Walk on Thursday, Nov. 14, in downtown Fargo.
Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 619 Broadway N., with a short program beginning at 6:30. "The Purple Walk" will follow the program. Participants are encouraged to wear purple — the color of pancreatic cancer awareness — and purple glow sticks will be handed out to illuminate the walk. The walk will flow down Broadway to the Hotel Donaldson, which will also be lit in purple in honor of the walk.
This event aims to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer. Proceeds and donations will go toward an endowment through the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center to help fund the effort to get Fargo-Moorhead patients who were recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer into clinical trials. Funds will also be used for gas cards for rural patients who travel to Fargo for treatment.
