FARGO — Do you have any old Christmas lights you need to get rid of?

You can exchange them for new, solar-powered LED lights for free at an event Saturday, Jan. 26. The partnership eFargo is providing the light exchange at Frostival's Kids Winter Bootcamp at Scheels Arena, 5225 31st Ave. S., and runs from 10 am to 2 pm.

North Dakota State University, Xcel Energy and Cass County Electric Cooperative work with eFargo to help provide the lights.

Sam Goodman with eFargo said older Christmas lights consume a lot more power than new ones. Getting them off the grid will help save a lot of electricity.

"Per bulb, they waste so much energy if they're older, less efficient bulbs," Goodman said. "It's just worth upgrading, for all of us and for your own financial benefit."
