FARGO — For the last seven years now, the Fargodome has offered a family-friendly reprieve from winter with Fight the Frost .
The formula is simple, but effective, says Corey Heiser of Games Galore .
“Bringing in over 30 inflatables, we try to bring something out for every age group and boys and girls alike and try to get them to blow off some steam,” he says.
Heiser brings his attractions back to the Dome for a weekend of fun that runs Friday, Jan. 10, through Sunday, Jan. 12.
He says that between the recent holiday break and snowstorm, parents may notice kids are getting a little stir crazy.

His mobile playground gives them a safe place to run and jump under the watchful eye of a guardian.
This year, he’s excited to bring in a handful of new features, particularly the Lumberjack Axe Throw , which lets kids get a grip on the trendy adult pastime of hurling axes at targets. These axes are foam, Heiser explains, and the backdrop is inflatable, making them entirely safe.
Some other inflatable adaptations of games should be a hit, too, like Whack-a-Mole , which has kids pop their heads up through holes as others try to bop them with a soft mallet.
“It’s going to be huge for this event,” Heiser predicts.
Another new contest allows fans to give football a kick with Field Goal Challenge .
“Everyone yelling at the TV that (former Minnesota Vikings kicker) Blair Walsh couldn’t make a field goal, well, now you can try,” he says.

Football will be a big theme on Saturday, Jan. 11, with two notable games playing live on the big video screens. The Dome’s resident North Dakota State University Bison play for the national championship at 11 a.m. The Minnesota Vikings take another step into the playoffs at 3:35 p.m.
Not all of the attractions are new.
“Last year, the Hippo Chow Down was absolutely crazy, so we brought that back,” Heiser says.
The challenge has kids tethered to a bungee cord and running to the middle of a circle to pick up as many balls as possible.
“Our obstacle courses are always the No. 1 attraction,” he says. “We’re going to have at least six or seven obstacle courses out there.”
There will also be a kiddie land for children under the age of 6 to play safely away from bigger kids.

Kids of all ages can enjoy the Dome’s regular concessions, including beer for adults.
Still, the event is really for the young ones.
“It’s the smile on the kid's face. It’s hard to get over,” Heiser says. “When the kids come on the floor of the Dome and there are all of these giant inflatables and their eyes just light up, it’s like a kid in a candy store. It’s fun to watch the kids have a great time.”
