FARGO - If this week's heat has you thinking of the height of summer, it may not be the only reason.

The Island Park Show, a smaller version of the Downtown Street Fair, takes over the park Saturday and Sunday.

While not as expansive as July's event, the Island Park Show benefits from its namesake. Nestled into the old oak trees on the north end of the park, this weekend's festivities will find the shade refreshing, as opposed to the punishing heat of the sweltering pavement of the Street Fair.

Many of the same vendors return for this weekend's crafty market, meaning that you have a second chance at grabbing that hard-to-find item.

About 160 juried arts-and-crafts vendors will turn the park into a colorful tent city for the two-day event. Wares range from decorative woodwork, pottery and ceramics, jewelry, furniture, photos, clothes, handmade soap and more.

The event could also be your last stab at fair food, with deep-fried Oreos, deep-fried pickles, fry bread tacos, walking tacos, funnel cakes, kettle corn, corndogs, berry kabobs and more available.

Fun in the shade includes music Saturday from Skilly & Duff at 11 a.m., Tucker'd Out at noon and 1 p.m., Penny & Pals at 2 p.m. and Patchouli at 3 and 4 p.m.

The music starts again at 11 a.m. Sunday with Jade and the Greenhouse, noon and 1 p.m. with Skilly & Duff, Tucker'd Out at 2 p.m. and Jade and the Greenhouse again at 3 and 4 p.m.

Other events like carriage and barrel train rides roll throughout both days, with festivities officially running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
