MOORHEAD — A peanut butter and jelly-themed fundraiser this weekend will help pay down the lunch debt of Moorhead Area Public School students.

The PB&J fundraiser, which will include sandwiches and a peanut butter-inspired beer, will take place noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at Moorhead's Junkyard Brewing Co., 1416 First Ave. N.

In addition to food and drinks, attendees can buy raffle tickets, bid on silent auction items, play games and more. Additionally, an anonymous donor has agreed to match up to $10,000 in funds raised during the event.

It's the third year a benefit like this has been organized to make sure families and students in Moorhead, a district with 36% of students eligible for free or reduced-price meals, don't have to carry on debt from the most recent school year.

The event was started in 2017 by Kara Gloe, a Moorhead School Board member, and was planned and organized this year by a group of women from the Fargo-Moorhead community, according to a news release.
