The Fargo Cass Public Health immunization program will be introducing "Ollie the Owl" at the annual Fargo Police Community Picnic from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Island Park as part of a childhood immunization awareness initiative.

At the picnic, parents and caregivers will be able to check records for their children who were immunized in North Dakota.

Cheryl Wavrin, an immunization nurse with FCPH, explains, "Ollie is a symbol we want people to associate with immunizations. When people see Ollie, we want them to remember immunizations and their importance."

Ollie will also appear at West Fargo's Night to Unite on Aug. 3 at Elmwood Park, where immunization record checks will also be conducted.
