Red River Canoe Parade set for Sunday in Moorhead

Kayaks and canoes will take to the water this weekend for the annual event.

MOORHEAD — The annual Canoe Parade organized by community group Folkways will take place on the Red River once again at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20.

Organizers said the route will take canoes, kayaks and their paddlers down and back from the Hjemkomst Center, 202 First Ave. N., to Riverfront Park, 210 Eighth St. N., in Moorhead.

Spectators can view the parade from the river trails at Hjemkomst Center and Riverfront Park. Suggested parking and viewing areas are listed at www.folkways.org/visitorguide.

The parade will wrap up at 3 p.m. with an award ceremony with the annual Golden Paddle given to the best-dressed vessel. For more information or to learn more about entering a canoe or kayak in the parade, visit www.canoeparade.com.
