Sanford Health hosts diabetes control effort

FARGO - Sanford Health is taking enrollment for a diabetes prevention program involving lifestyle intervention that was designed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

FARGO - Sanford Health is taking enrollment for a diabetes prevention program involving lifestyle intervention that was designed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The program will teach people how to manage risk factors and reduce the need for further medical treatment. Lifestyle intervention was found to prevent or delay adult onset diabetes by 58 percent.

The program is based on a curriculum to implement gradual, realistic lifestyle changes including physical activity, nutrition, stress management and coping techniques.

The diabetes prevention program consists of 16 core sessions meeting once weekly followed by six or eight sessions meeting once monthly.

Sessions of the first class will be 7 to 8 a.m. every Wednesday, starting Sept. 18 at Family Wellness, 2960 Seter Parkway, Fargo.

The year-long program costs $150, with $50 returned upon a minimum 80 percent completion of the program, based on the number of visits attended. For more information or to enroll call (701) 234-5659.
