The search continues for the names of these Merchant Marines

In today's "Neighbors" column, Bob Lind says readers continue to seek answers to a photograph of crewman that was framed in Fargo and found at a California store.

The search goes on for the names of these Merchant Marine crewmen from World War II.

Kimberly Schulman, formerly of Fargo and now of Burbank, Calif., found the picture in a store in Burbank and noticed it had been framed in Fargo. So she sent a copy of it to "Neighbors" last year in hopes someone could come up with these men’s names.

That brought a note from Lorraine McGinnis, of New York City , who’d seen the column and was interested because her father had been in the Merchant Marines.

Lorraine followed her original note to "Neighbors" with another note saying she continues to do research on this. However, she writes, “Direct contact with archives is nearly impossible due to COVID-19.”

But she wrote that she’d keep working on this because, she says, “I am fascinated by this image.

“I wish my dad was alive. He might have been able to identify some of the crew.

“I have a few boxes full of such images from my dad’s time at sea.”

Meanwhile, is there anybody out there who can provide information on the crew in this picture?
