FARGO — If you're struggling with dandelions on your lawn this spring, there are a number of easy ways to deal with them.
NDSU Extension Agent Don Kinzler said using a lawn mower on them can prevent the flowers from going to seed. You can also dig them up or use lawn weed killers containing 2,4-D.
Kinzler said dandelions spread easily in the flat and windy Fargo-Moorhead area, and their seeds can sprout soon after they land.
He also said people should think twice if they are keeping them around for pollination purposes.
"The pollen from dandelions is not the best food source for pollinators. There are many other better sources of pollen for our bee pollinators," Kinzler said.
