FARGO - The Honor Flight project takes center stage on television Tuesday night.
The next episode of top-rated CBS-TV primetime drama NCIS will highlight the non-profit organization that sends World War II and Korean War veterans to Washington D.C. free of charge to see their war memorials.
More than 100 Honor Flight trips arrive in D.C. every year and serve as a way to say thank you to veterans for their service.
The WDAY Honor Flight from Fargo has flown approximately 900 local veterans to D.C. since 2007. The next flight which marks the 10th anniversary of the WDAY Honor Flight is scheduled for May 14 through 15.
According to the Honor Flight network, NCIS writer Gina Lucita Monreal wrote the episode after being inspired by her grandfather-in-law's Honor Flight experience.
