Doug and Sue Abentroth were married on May 3rd, 1969 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Grand, Forks, ND. This means Sue has been putting up with Doug for the past 50 years. Anyone that knows this couple, knows what an accomplishment this is. They have survived raising their 6 children who have turned their hair grey, following their 21 grandchildren whom they are completely devoted to, and having impromptu card parties with their many friends. Sue still waits on Doug hand and foot and Doug still gives Sue her way on whatever she chooses - all the while complaining. They have survived this union with lots of laughter, love, and unshakable faith. They met in Grand Fork, ND, traveled the US pipe-lining in their early years of marriage, and then settled in the metro areas of Cummings, Caledonia, and currently Hillsboro, ND where Doug started Abentroth Construction. They will be celebrating their milestone at their first grandchild’s wedding on May 18th with their children: Emily (Milt) Lee - Ada, MN, Heather (Chad) Odden - Ada, MN, Heidi (Chad) McQuillan - Oxbow, ND, Erica (Josh) Kritzberger - Ada, MN, Mitch (Krystal) Abentroth - Hillsboro, ND, and Casey (Lindsey) Abentroth - Caledonia, ND, their 21 grand kids, 2 step granddaughters, and their 5 step great grand kids. They will celebrate later in the year with their first ever overseas trip to Ireland.
