Essentia Health Welcomes Dr. Rory Farnan

Dr. Rory Farnan, an interventional cardiologist, is now seeing patients at Essentia Health Heart and Vascular Center in Fargo.

“I think cardiology is the most fascinating field in medicine. There is so much research going on that it is constantly changing, both in terms of new medicines coming out, but also new and less invasive procedures and devices being developed,” explains Dr. Farnan. “It’s fascinating, and incredibly challenging, to stay on top of all the new information. But the effort is worth it in the end when I can pass that knowledge on to my patients.”

Dr. Farnan received his medical education at Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Farnan completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, N.J. Dr. Farnan is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.

“I spent extra time training in the field of interventional cardiology and it is tremendously gratifying to use my hands to open up a narrowed heart artery, place a pacemaker, improve blood flow to the legs or close off leaky veins to help patients feel better, and in some cases, live longer,” shares Dr. Farnan. “I’m excited to be given the chance to help my patients stay as active as possible for as long as possible.”
