BISMARCK — The State Historical Society of North Dakota is seeking nominations for the annual awards program recognizing outstanding achievement in three categories of history: Excellence in Local History, Heritage Profile Honor, and North Dakota Person of History. Details and nomination forms are available at history.nd.gov/historyawardforms.html and must be delivered or postmarked by 5 p.m. Friday, July 12.
The Excellence in Local History Award recognizes individuals, groups, or organizations who have dedicated time, talent, and efforts to local and regional history and serve as a role model of excellence.
The Heritage Profile Honor Award recognizes individuals for lasting or significant contributions in extending the knowledge and understanding of the academic history of North Dakota. The North Dakota Person of History Award recognizes individuals who have had a prominent role in the history of North Dakota. It posthumously honors those who have made a significant contribution to the progress of the state or the social well-being of its citizens, or have had a profound effect upon state history or people’s lives.
