KQWB-AM (1660) will dump its mostly conservative talk format in favor of all-sports beginning Monday. Local radio personality Derek Hanson will host a weekday drive-time talk show.

Currently known as TalkRadio 1660, the station will be called 1660 ESPN. Hanson's show will run from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The rest of the weekday lineup will be filled with nationally syndicated ESPN shows like "Mike and Mike in the Morning" and "The Dan Patrick Show."

Operations manager Anne Phibian of Go Radio Broadcasting, KQWB's parent company, said the move was made to change the station's fortunes. KQWB has long trailed KFGO-AM (790) and WDAY-AM (970) among the Fargo-Moorhead talk stations.

Hanson currently works as a morning co-host on another Go Radio station, The Fox (107.9). He's previously worked in sports talk on KFGO, WDAY and KVOX-AM (1280).
