FARGO - An event scheduled here Sunday in honor of National Human Trafficking Awareness Day will feature a panel discussion with local experts and a candle-lit “walk for freedom” in downtown Fargo.

The Shine a Light for Freedom event starts at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Fargo Theatre, hosted by organizations 1ForceUnited, Voice for the Captives and Women’s Impact.

The panel includes Anna Frissell, executive director of the Red River Children’s Advocacy Center, Terry L. Styf of the West Fargo Police Department, Christina Sambor, project coordinator of Fuse, and U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D.

After the discussion concludes at 5:30 p.m., it will be followed by a candle-lit walk along Broadway to symbolize shining a light in the darkness of sex trafficking.
