FARGO - Sanford Health Plan and Essentia Health have reached an agreement that lets Essentia keep providing in-network care to 65,000 people in the North Dakota Public Employees Retirement System.

The deal adds 1,500 Essentia Health providers to the NDPERS network, Essentia and Sanford said Tuesday in a joint news release.

"We were committed to work through an agreement that ensures Essentia Health will be able to provide quality care at the highest level of benefits for the many state employees and their dependents we serve," said Tim Sayler, chief operating officer of Essentia Health's west region.

In February, NDPERS announced that Sanford Health Plan will be the insurance provider for its members starting July 1.
