'Marijuana resort' budding in South Dakota, set to open by year's end

FLANDREAU, S.D. - The marijuana plants are already growing in a remodeled building on the Flandreau Santee Sioux reservation as the southeast South Dakota tribe shoots for a New Year's Eve opening for its first-of-its-kind resort.
The 12,500-square-foot marijuana growing facility on the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe reservation features this large room where plants will sit on movable shelves that are under lights that mimic the sun. The temperature in the room will be a steady 72 degrees. Barry Amundson / Forum News Service.
